(many, many years ago!) I like to "think snow" in the Houston heat...
This Friday, August 17th @ 2:00 pm is Meet the Teacher! We will be here to meet with our incoming students and their parents from 2-3:00 pm. I am so excited to begin this new school year with all of the 5th, 6th, 7th & 8th graders math students.
Students will be doing their own blogging this year as part of their weekly homework assignment. Integrating technology into a hands-on application will be a natural transition for most students. Singapore Math (MIF) will be on the menu for 5th & 6th grade. 7th & 8th grade will be working on Pre-Algebra and Algebra, reinforcing prior knowledge from last year as we continue to build our knowledge base.
Homework will be given in one form or fashion, most likely on a daily basis. I believe that students must use their newly learned skills by putting it into application via...homework! Homework will come in various forms, from textbook, worksheets, projects, computer technology-PPT-blogging, research and so on.
Students will be asked to use their lockers and visit lockers between classes so that they can leave backpacks stored during the day. Please help us reinforce this procedure with your students.
Forms will be sent home the first day that require parental attention. Please check (blue folder) to make sure your student has the paperwork and return it to us as soon as possible.
Hope to see you this Friday! School begins Monday, August 21, 2012!
