Dec. 10, 2012 Gingerbread House Project

Parents,

Please remember to send the following items with your student for their Gingerbread House Math Project this week.

Gingerbread House

Parents,

During the week of December 9th, my Math students will be making their own Gingerbread House!  This will involve the initial template drawing stage, using measurement/geometry.  From there, we will be preparing the gingerbread dough using our prior knowledge of fractions to properly measure the ingredients.  We will be learning about converting Celsius to Fahrenheit to Celsius, as well.  And finally, we will be using engineering skills in the final construction of the house!

Since each student will be making their own house, I am asking each student to compile and bring in their ingredients for the project.

Ingredients:

*These utensils will be returned with your student after use.

·          (I will have the following available to all students:  1 tablespoon cinnamon, 1 tablespoon ground ginger,  1-1/2 teaspoons ground cloves,  1 teaspoon baking soda , 2 tablespoons water.)

Thank you!  Mrs. Hartman
