December 5, 2011

December has finally arrived and the end of the year is near!
6th Graders will be working on dividing decimals using several methods, as well as, "Shopping Math" for real life applications. Students has been playing "Decimal Bingo" to become familiar with place values and fraction conversion to decimals. Welcome to two new students, Christian and Olivia!

7th Graders will spend part of the week on Coordinate Planes & Ordered Pairs. Students will incorporate the use of technology to produce a graph by inputting their coordinates into a spreadsheet. We may begin a more in depth look at Order of Operation in Algebra this week, also.

8th Graders will be Adding/Subtracting Matrices at the beginning of this week. Students will apply their knowledge to produce graphs using technology applications, such as, spreadsheets.
From there we will begin a review of Integers and the use of negative numbers in real life applications. Students will be heading into the Properties of Multiplication and the Distributive properties in the Algebra 1 textbook. Hopefully, we will be getting into the Alegebra into more depth before the winter break.

Have a wonderful week!

Mrs. Hartman
