Students have been working hard on their Math this past month and I am so pleased with their accomplishments!
8th grade has been hitting Polynomials in their Algebra lessons. We have been learning about the how to multiply polynomials using the FOIL, BOX (connecting with Punnet squares in Genetics)& Multiplication methods. We have been using foam tiles to help us visualize the problems. Much to their surprise, no one as of yet, has had steam coming out of their ears from too much math!
7th grade has been working with Pre-Algebra lessons on polynomials and multiplying binomials, and simplifying equations. We have been working with variables and learning how to solve for the variable and double check the correctness of our answers. 7th grade has been using foam tiles to work out their problems and give them a visual representation to their solution. They have all been doing quite well!
6th grade is immersed in Ratios , Rates & Percents. We will be using Shopping Math to apply real life situations to the use of percents and rates (unit rates per item), as well as, banking to highlight interest rates. Students are using tiles also to work out problems and triangles while working with distance, time & rate.
Have a wonderful week!
