Sept. 26, 2011

Gearing up for the Fall Festival! The Topsy Turvy Cake Walk (7TH GRADE BOOTH) will under construction beginning ASAP until our Fall Festival on October 29th, 2011. We need to request sponsorship from our parents to help offset the costs associated with our booth. The Cake Walk will give away candy prizes to the walkers that do not win a cake and we will also need funds to put together our booth. If you are interested in supporting our efforts, please contact me ASAP so that we can be assured of sponsorship for the Topsy Turvy Cake Walk. I have ideas about putting together a fabric (or some sort of material) banner for our booth and we will also be doing the "cake numbers" for the walkers. Parents are in need to cover the working of our booth beginning 11:30 am until close...4:00pm ish? Please help in any way you can....and of course we need cakes!
6th grade will be working on their Greatest and Least Common Factor Projects and they have some great ideas!
7th and 8th grade will continue to use multiplication and division of decimals in everyday applications. For instance, converting US dollars to Euros (never know when you will hop a flight to Europe!). Also, using decimals for shopping, converting percentages and fractions, (tipping, checking your paycheck, balancing accounts, making up party shopping lists...) and the fun continues!
Computer Science is working on their Word Docs and will soon begin the PPT section of their Current Event Projects. Students are learning about citing work and using citations for quotations of author's words.
Egyptian Art will make a Mummy's Mask this week, or at least begin the makings of a mask while we learn more about the makings of a mummy!
Thank you,
Mrs. Hartman
